Essay:

No one denies the importance of examinations. They are the means of judging the progress made by students in their respective subjects. They also determine the efficiency of the whole learning process including the efficiency of the teachers. Unfortunately it is not true about the present day Examination System. The whole process is rotten to the core.

The factual position is not only alarming but also frightening. The sanctity of an examination depends on its secrecy, peaceful conduct, fair marking and correct tabulation of the results. Unfortunately, none of these processes is doubtless. People openly question the honesty of the paper-setters. The same is true about some secrecy officers and the clerks of the Boards of Educational University Exam Department. Poorly paid clerks have every right to feather their nest in a country where the high up are looting the banks.

It is said that the conduct of examinations has become so dangerous that most of the teachers shirk examination duties, leaving the ground vacant for the professionals who join hands with the Booti Mafia and allow them to do whatever they like. This is an open secret. I feel myself impudent while writing all this about my respectable teachers but my silence can’t change the situation. I am also aware of the limitations of my teachers. Why should they run the risk of their lives?

It is an open secret that the examiners area also influenced ill marking the answer sheets. Even if the examinations are held fairly. They can’t test the moral aspect of students. A student, who learns a few questions by heart and the same questions are set in the examination, can get through. Our examination system is going to the dogs.

Now it is a time that concerned authorities should revise the examination system. It is dire need to improve the total structure of examination. Those who are black sheep should be punished.
