Essay:

“Education is a better safeguard of liberty than a standing army.” (Edward Everett)

Women are more than fifty percent of the population. They play an important role in the society. It is quite necessary to enlighten them with education. The government has taken certain steps for providing education to girls from primary to higher level, but still a lot is required to be done.

There are certain reasons that girls must be educated. First reason is this that human resources without education cannot be properly utilized. Whether women opt for jobs or not, education is necessary for them. If they are doing jobs, they are useful to the family in one way. If they are educated but not doing jobs, they are useful in another way. The main role of a woman in practical life is of a wife and a mother. If she is educated, she can become a helping hand to her husband in many ways. If she is illiterate, she cannot keep pace with the situation. As a mother she is of great help to the family. The way she can guide and teach her children is far better than any external help.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” (Nelson Mandela)

Now trends are changing and more and more women are getting education. But it is only in cities. In villages still backwardness prevails. People generally think that education will spoil their girls. Moreover, proper educational facilities are not available in remote areas. The result is that girls in the villages cannot nourish their desire to study. Special attention should be focused on villages.

In developed countries women are sharing their responsibilities by taking equal part with men in different fields of life. Moreover, there is no sense in keeping half population illiterate. Women must play their part to make their country strong. It is the duty of every Pakistani man and woman to get rid of the baseless conventions and popularize the idea of female education. The masses should be convinced that education enlarges the vision of women and raises them above poverty differences.

Education not only helps women to look after themselves but also guide them in their family affairs. The importance of education for women can never be over-emphasized. By educating one man, we educate an individual but education of a women has its effect over the whole family. She is responsible for rearing up of young generation. Educated women only infuse good ideas in the minds of their children but also make them responsible citizens.

“Show me a family of readers and I will show you the people who move the world.” (Napoleon Bonaparte)
