ESSAY:

"Great ideology creates great times" ( Khalil Gibran)

Ideology means a set of ideas or beliefs that form the basis of a political theory. The ideology of Pakistan means the beliefs on the basis of which it came into being. Pakistan came into being in the name of Islam.

Our concept of nationality is different from the Western concept. For them geographical boundaries make the nation. For us ideology makes the nation. So before the partition of India, when Muslims and Hindus were living in one geographical unit, they were not one nation. They were clearly two different nations. This idea is the root of our ideology.

"Islam: as a code of conduct and way of life" (Allama Iqbal)

Our ideology is firmly grounded in the teachings of Islam. Islam came to the sub-continent with the arrival of Muhammad bin Qasim and the defeat of Raja Dahar. With the passage of time, the number of the Muslims went on increasing. During the British rule, the Muslims felt a sense of insecurity. The English and the Hindus got united and the Muslims were left far behind.

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan made a great effort to bring the crushed Muslims on one platform. He urged them to get education and to keep pace with the modern times. The Muslims followed his advice and succeeded in saving their identity. They made their own political party, the Muslim League. Muhammad Ali Jinnah became the president of the Muslim League. It was in 1930 that the idea of a separate state for the Muslims of India came in the solid form. It was the Alahbad session of the Muslin League that Allama Iqbal presented the idea of separate country (Pakistan) for the Muslims of India. On March 23, 1940 in Lahore it was declared that the Muslin majority areas in India would become Pakistan. The result was that just after the seven years of their determined struggle, they won their aim. It was a miracle. By the grace of Allah Almighty on 14th August, 1947 there came into being a state whose name is Pakistan.

As this country has been established in the name of Islam, it will surely prove a seat for the Islamic system of life. We will prove to the world that Islam is a perfect code of life. Islam provides the best system of politics, business and trade. As a set of religious practices it is far superior to any religion in the world. We have got it in the name of Islam and only the Islamic system will govern it.

"Pakistan not only means freedom and independence, but the Muslim ideology which has to be preserved, which has come to us as a precious gift and treasure and which we hope other will share with us". (M.Ali Jinnah)
