Islam has been declared a universal religion. It is the last religion a completion of God’s teachings to the mankind. The finality of the Prophet-hood is an established fact and is a part of our faith. Islam has been ordained for all the lands for all peoples and for all the ages to come. It is now crystal clear that Islam covers all the aspects of our life.

Islam means obedience or submission to the will of Allah Almighty. The will of Allah Almighty is expressed clearly in the religious laws. The Holy Quran is the supreme expression of the Islamic laws. The life of our Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW as a whole, his words and deeds are some other important sources of law, after the Holy Quran.

Islamic laws cover all the important aspects of our private life. They guide us about the types of food we eat or should not eat, the way we dress ourselves, the relations between men and women etc. All these rules of private life go together with prayers and acts of worship. We have to pray five times a day, keep fast during the Holy month of Ramadan and perform other acts of worship like sacrifice at Eid-Ul-Adha. Thus, we remembering Allah Almighty all the time. Unfortunately we do not fully act on the rules of private living given y Islam.

As far as our public lice is concerned. Islam is quite clear. It means that it guides us about the duties of government towards society. It also guides us about duties of society towards the individual.

“If you expect the blessings of God, be kind to His people.” (Hazrat Abu Bakar (RA))

First of all, the Holy Quran says that full or absolute power or sovereignty belongs to Allah Almighty. So all governments or states become agents of the supreme ruler, which is Allah Almighty. As  such they have to obey the orders of Allah Almighty and frame their laws according to the Holy Quran, if they are truly Islamic.

Islam is a religion of true peace, justice and equality. It gives us clear directions about respect for each other’s rights in society. It makes us to help the poor and the needy by giving ‘Zakat’ regularly. It takes us not to give and take interest. It asks us to be honest in our business dealings.

Our joint acts of worship like Juma and Eid prayers make us conscious of our duties, both public and private. Each time we gather in Masajids or at common meeting places we feel each other’s needs.

Islam is a flexible religion. It permits us to make use of our reason to suggest solutions for new kinds of social problems. It is a religion of reason and common sense. We can say with certainty the Islam is a complete religion. It can take us to heights of perfection in this life as well as in the next.

“Islam is the solution of our problems.”
