1. Take down
Meaning: To put down in writing.
Sentence: She took down everything the teacher said that morning

2. Take in
Meaning: To grant admittance to; receive as a guest or an employee.
Sentence: This office is going to take in five new employees this year.

3. Throw up
Meaning: To vomit.
Sentence: She was feeling nausea and threw up finally.

4. Walk away with OR Walk off with
Meaning: To win or get something easily.
Sentence: She got a minor injury and walked off with a million-dollar insurance settlement.

5. Strike down
Meaning: To knock someone or something down by striking.
Sentence: They struck down the tree with sharp blades.

6. Stand for
Meaning: To represent; symbolize.
Sentence: Statue of Liberty stands for freedom.

7. Ring out
Meaning: Sound loudly.
Sentence: A shot rang out in the woods.

8. Fall foul of
Meaning: Quarrel with.
Sentence: I have fallen foul of the boss for coming late to work.

9. Stick to the point
Meaning: To limit yourself one topic or thing.
