Meaning: To search (specially in a book).
Sentence: I looked up a word in dictionary but could not find its meaning.

22. Turn up
Meaning: To fold.
Sentence: He turned up his cuffs to wash the dishes.

23. Run up against somebody\something
Meaning: To experience difficulty with someone or something.
Sentence: Sometimes we run up against a colleague who does not want us to succeed.

24. Root and branch
Meaning: To remove something bad completely.
Sentence: Racism must be eliminated root and branch.

25. Hang fire
Meaning: To delay or wait.
Sentence: We should hang fire and wait for other information.

26. Kick the bucket
Meaning: To die:

Meaning: Put out fires, flames, or lights
Sentence: Firefighters arrived in time and blew out the flames within few minutes.

Meaning: Endure cheerfully
Sentence: We should bear up all the circumstances bravely.
