101. Gift of the gab
Meaning: the ability to speak easily and confidently.
Sentence: She has got the gift of the gab; she should work in sales and marketing.
102. A fishy story
Meaning: A suspicious and unbelievable tale
Sentence: No one believed him because he was telling a fishy story about his results.
103. Stand on ceremony
Meaning: to behave in a formal way.
Sentence: He does not stand on ceremony and starts eating without waiting for anyone.
104. Make a bee line for
Meaning: Go directly towards by using shortest distance.
Sentence: He always makes a beeline for chocolates in candy stores.
105. Do up
Meaning: Close or fasten.
Sentence: We should do up our safety belts when we are driving a car.
106. Get away with
Meaning: To escape the consequences.
Sentence: He can not get away with the robbery because some people witnessed his crime.

Meaning: to behave according to a set of beliefs or principles
Sentence: We live by our traditional code of ethics.
106. At loggerheads
Meaning: in conflict with someone.
Sentence: Labourers are always at loggerheads with factory owners for higher wages.

Meaning: outside limits.
Sentence: Prices in markets are going out of bound in our country.

Meaning: To take benefit of someone’s weakness.
Sentence: Politicians are playing upon public to make more and more money.
109. As the crow flies
Meaning: distance in a straight line between the two places.
Sentence: The next city is one hundred miles from here as the crow flies but it takes ten extra miles if we travel by road.
110. The schoolmaster is abroad
Meaning: Education is spreading and ignorance is decreasing.
Sentence: The gradual increase in the number of schools shows that schoolmaster is abroad.

Meaning: A woman with strong interest in books and reading.
Sentence: She likes to spend her time in library as she is a true blue stocking.

Meaning: produce.
Sentence: Plants bring forth fruits in productive season.

Meaning: To lose strength; to become weak.
Sentence: The winds died down slowly after the storm.

Meaning: disagree with, violate.
Sentence: This sentence goes against the grammatical rule.
115. Knock about
Meaning: Strike against forcefully.
Sentence: The wind knocked about the tent all the night.
116. House of cards
Meaning: an organization or a plan that is very weak and can easily be destroyed.
Sentence: The organization that looked solid and dependable turned out to be a house of cards.

Meaning: a victim of laughter.
Sentence: He became a laughing stock in the class when he used a wrong idiom.

Meaning: to stop something at its start
Sentence: We should nip the bad habits in the bud.

Meaning: to stay away from school or class without permission
Sentence: Good students should not play truants and attend their classes regularly.

Meaning: to hope and wait for good results.
Sentence: I am keeping my fingers crossed about my exam result.
