Subject : Massive campaign for tree plantation in the country

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the kind attention of the concerned authorities and common people of our country towards the need for a massive campaign for tree plantation in the country.

Everybody knows that trees are the gift of God. They are a kind and comfortable friend of man. They purify the air and fight against pollution. It is unfortunate that our government is paying a little attention to this matter. New trees are not planted in the country. It is surprising those old trees are also cut down mercilessly in order to widen the roads. The new industrial units are being set up. In order to clear the land, the old and big trees are removed. Moreover, new housing colonies are being established in forests and at green places. The trees and green foliage are removed to build houses. This is an inhuman act.

People in Pakistan do not realize that trees beautify our environment. They provide us shade and keep us away from the burning heat of the sun. They provide us oxygen in plentiful. In this way, they add a lot to human health. People must know that they are being deprived of their best friends.

It is a dire need to adopt following measures to enrich our land with trees. Firstly, our government should educate the people about the importance of trees on electronic media. Secondly, new trees must be planted and the farmer who plants the maximum number of trees must be given price. Thirdly, government should make punishable laws against those who are cutting trees.
