Subject : Letter regarding choosing profession

Dear friend,

Many thanks for your letter of December 10, 2019. I note from your letter that you intend to compete for administrative services after the completion of your graduation. Perhaps glitters and charm of an administrative job have turned you towards this profession.

There is no doubt that administrative service offers a lucrative career coupled with authority and honor. People are running after these posts in preference to other services. You will appreciate that money and authority is not all in life. We owe some duty to our country which can better be fulfilled by imbibing in our young men and women the sense of discipline and devotion to the country. In modern times when people are running after power and authority, education has been relegated to a secondary role. This has resulted in diversion of talent from educational career.

What our country needs today is not only good administrators but also good citizens and it is through education only that we can make our young men good citizens. I would, therefore, suggest that you better adopt teaching as your career in preference to administrative service and inculcate among our student a sense of discipline, morality and character-building which is the need of the time. I hope you will agree with my views.
