Subject : Need for the construction of New Dams

Sir,

Through your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of official authorities to the need of the construction of new dams to fulfill the dire needs of water and electricity for our country. There are only two big dams in our country i.e., Tarbella and Mangalla dams, which are insufficient now to meet the requirements of water storage and power generation. Pakistan is both an agricultural and industrial country. It needs water for irrigation and electricity to run the industry. If we had constructed Kala Bagh dam in the past, we would not have suffered the worst power and water crises. In fact, there are certain political issues in the country, but government should make it first severe issue to be resolved.

Everyone knows that new dams should be constructed to avoid the shortage of water for irrigation as well as for the power generation. Frequent power failures and unbearable electricity bills can be reduced by constructing new dams. It is sincerely felt that in interest of the country and for the survival of all types of industries and agriculture sectors there is a dire need to construct new dams. Government should take quick steps to remove all the problems which are only due to the non construction of dams.

It is hoped that the higher authorities will take serious steps for the construction of new dams. This step will bring prosperity for the country.
