Subject : The deteriorating standard of education
Sir,
I wish to bring to your kind notice that the complaints against our education system are increasing. The standard of our education has fallen so low that the people like to go abroad for higher studies.
First of all, I would like to mention the most important factor which is our examination system. The question papers do not test the ability and understanding of a student. Cramming is the easiest and the shortest way to success. Students are no more bother to get highest marks. It is only because of the modern means of amusement that students have become dull and careless about their educational responsibilities. Most of the students spend their time in watching movies, using internet and mobile phones. Moreover, organized groups leak out the question papers before the exam. They terrorize the invigilators. Sometimes teachers do not pay full attention to their work and only want to finish their syllabus in time. In this way students divert themselves towards cheating and illegal ways to pass the exams.
The second thing is insufficient teaching staff, especially in colleges. Teachers are not fully qualified and trained for their jobs. They do not make use of any modern technique or method. Thirdly, students are fed up with this old and boring curriculum. It must include new subjects to meet the economic challenges.
It is for these and many other reasons that the standard of our education is going down day by day. Effective and immediate steps must be taken to raise the standard of education.
