Subject : Rash driving and increasing accidents on the roads

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed paper, I invite the attention of the official authorities and the public to the problem of rash driving and increasing accidents on the roads.

I think, the main cause of accidents is rash and reckless driving. Most of the drivers are inexperienced. They try to beat the other vehicles in order to earn more commission. Most of the roads in our country are uneven. They are damaged and unpaved. The number of traffic signals are faulty. Corruption in traffic police also causes accidents.

There are some suggestions to solve this problem. Firstly, the roads should be repaired and made well in condition. Secondly, signals should be installed at narrow and risky turnings. Thirdly, training schools for drivers should be established. Licenses should be issued after proper trials. Fourthly, the drivers who violate traffic rules should be penalized. Fifthly, traffic sense should be inculcated among the people. Sixthly, police check posts should be set up at regular intervals. Lastly, the police department must be purified of the black sheep.

It is hoped that the higher authorities will take all the above suitable steps for the decreasing of reckless driving.
